Dispute resolution CPD courses for NSW builders
Avoiding misrepresentation, handling complaints and resolving disputes before they reach NCAT.
Dispute resolution is one of the eight NSW CPD topic areas. NSW frames it around avoiding and identifying misrepresentation, which is a narrower description than the topic deserves: in practice it is the whole arc from the first complaint to a resolved outcome, and the choices along the way that either contain a problem or feed it.
Courses here follow real residential disputes as scenarios. What the owner is entitled to under the Home Building Act, what you are obliged to do about it, when to bring in Fair Trading’s dispute process, and how to document everything so that if it does go further you are the party with the evidence.
Under the NSW scheme these are 1 point per hour activities, recorded under Dispute resolution on the certificate. The NSW builder CPD guide covers how points are earned, carried forward and evidenced.
