Terms of Service

The terms you agree to when you buy a course or use a PointCPD account.

Using PointCPD

By purchasing or accessing a course on PointCPD, you agree to use the content for your own professional development and not to redistribute, resell, or share your login access with others. Your account is personal to you as the licensed builder or learner using it — CPD points and certificates are tied to the individual who completed the assessment, and sharing login access undermines the entire basis on which points and certificates are issued.

Course purchases

Courses are sold on a per-course basis, or via a company seat pack for bulk purchasing (see our For Employers page for how seat packs work). Access to a course is granted on verified payment. Points are only awarded once an assessment is passed — purchasing a course does not itself earn CPD points, and there is no path by which points can be credited without a genuine passed assessment behind them.

Company seat accounts

If you purchase a seat pack, you become the manager of a company account and can assign purchased seats to staff by email address. Seats you assign but that remain unclaimed can be reassigned if you remove that person from your roster. Once a staff member has completed a course and been awarded points, that record belongs to them individually and is not revoked if they later leave your company or are removed from your roster — CPD records are tied to the individual builder’s licence, not to the purchasing company.

Assessments and attempts

Assessments allow unlimited attempts with no waiting period between attempts. Question order is randomised on each attempt. Points are awarded only on a genuine pass, calculated against the pass mark configured for that course’s assessment.

Accreditation

PointCPD is not a Registered Training Organisation. See our Accreditation & approvals page for what each course’s accreditation status actually means, and check the specific course you’re purchasing before relying on it for a licence renewal.

Certificates

Certificates are generated automatically upon passing an assessment and are not manually issuable. Each certificate carries a unique serial number. See our Verify a certificate page for how a third party can confirm a certificate’s authenticity.

Refunds

See our Refund & Returns Policy for the specifics of when a course purchase is refundable.

Account security

You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately via our contact page.

Prohibited use

You agree not to use PointCPD to attempt to circumvent the assessment process (for example, by attempting to access or share correct answers outside the platform’s own instant-feedback mechanism), to misrepresent a certificate as belonging to someone other than the person who actually passed the assessment, or to use the platform in any way that would misrepresent your actual CPD compliance to a regulator, employer, or client.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time as the platform and its features (such as company seat accounts) evolve. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We’ll aim to reflect any material change clearly rather than updating this page silently.

Limitation of liability

PointCPD provides CPD content and assessed learning in good faith, based on genuine subject-matter expertise, but does not guarantee any specific regulatory outcome — whether a course’s points count toward your licence renewal depends on that course’s actual accreditation status in your jurisdiction at the time, as disclosed on the course page, and ultimately on your regulator’s own rules and decisions.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.

Where our liability can lawfully be limited, our liability to you is limited, at our option, to resupplying the course or paying the cost of having the course resupplied.

Subject to the above, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on course content in circumstances where independent verification was appropriate.

Company seat account terms in more detail

As the manager of a company account, you’re responsible for the accuracy of the staff email addresses you assign seats to — an incorrectly entered email means the seat invitation and any resulting enrolment go to the wrong person, which we can’t retroactively redirect once accepted. Removing a staff member from your roster does not affect their own account, their completed course history, or any certificate and points they’ve already earned — those remain theirs permanently, consistent with the principle that CPD records belong to the individual licensed builder.

Intellectual property

Course content, module design, and the underlying platform are our intellectual property (or licensed to us). Your purchase grants you a personal licence to access and learn from the content — it does not grant you any right to reproduce, redistribute, or repurpose that content for your own or a third party’s commercial use.

Accuracy of content

We take genuine care to ensure course content is technically accurate and reviewed by people with real building industry experience, but construction standards, codes, and best practice evolve, and no course should be treated as a substitute for checking the current, authoritative version of any standard or code it references (AS 3740, the National Construction Code, or similar) when it matters for an actual job.

Disclaimer

The information provided in this course has been prepared using best endeavours to ensure that it is accurate, current and relevant at the time of publication. However, building legislation, regulations, standards, codes, policies and their interpretation may change over time and, in some circumstances, may be subject to interpretation or vary depending on the specific circumstances of a project.

The information provided is intended as general educational guidance only and should not be relied upon as a substitute for project-specific professional advice or verification.

Builders, contractors and other industry professionals are encouraged to independently verify the applicable requirements for each project, including the relevant legislation, regulations, standards, approvals and authority requirements, having regard to the specific site, building, construction method and circumstances.

PointCPD makes no representation or guarantee that the information provided will be applicable to every project or circumstance and recommends that participants seek appropriate professional or regulatory advice where clarification is required.

Pricing, GST and payment

Prices shown are in Australian dollars and include GST where GST applies. A tax invoice is issued on purchase.

Card payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card details.

We may change prices from time to time. A price change never affects a purchase you have already completed, or points already in your account.

Points, packs and expiry

CPD points are awarded only when you pass a course assessment. Buying a course or a point pack does not itself award CPD points, and there is no way for points to be credited without a passed assessment behind them.

Points purchased as part of a pack do not expire, and remain available in your account to spend on any course.

CPD points you have earned, and the certificates recording them, are a permanent record belonging to you as an individual. They are not withdrawn if a company that purchased your seat later removes you, and they are not affected if a course is subsequently retired.

Access to courses you have purchased

Access to a course you have purchased continues for as long as your account remains open and the course remains available on the platform.

Courses are occasionally retired or replaced, most often because the standard or code they cover has changed and the content would no longer be safe to rely on. If we retire a course you have purchased and not yet completed, we will give you reasonable notice and either a replacement course or a refund.

Retiring a course never affects points you have already earned or certificates already issued.
