NSW CPD topic
Safety CPD courses for NSW builders
Working at heights, silica, asbestos and the duties a builder holds as the person conducting the business on site.
Safety is one of the eight NSW CPD topic areas, and NSW’s examples are asbestos, hazardous materials and roof work. Falls from height remain the leading cause of death in residential construction, engineered stone is now banned because of silica, and asbestos is still in the walls of most houses built before 1990. This topic is where those realities meet the duties you hold under the NSW WHS framework.
Courses in Safety are built around site photographs and hazard-to-control matching: identify what is wrong in the picture, choose the control, see whether it would have satisfied SafeWork. They are written by people who have run sites, so the controls are ones that survive contact with a real job rather than ones that only exist in a policy.
Under the NSW scheme each course is a 1 point per hour activity and appears under Safety on your certificate. The NSW builder CPD guide explains the twelve-point requirement and what records to keep.
